My journey into the field of child development began much earlier than when I chose it as my major while attending Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo where I received a BS in Child Development. As the youngest sibling of me, my brother and sister I always remembered enjoying being a "big brother" to the younger kinds in my neighborhood. I grew up in a tight knit community where "family" extended much further than those related to you by blood. In my experiences, I was able to witness firsthand how important a positive role model is in a child's life. Formally I began work with children at The San Luis Obispo Child Development Center which is a center that serves "at risk" youth. I spend five years there until I decided it was time to make my way back home to beautiful Santa Barbara where my mom, step-dad, brother, sister, nieces and nephews reside.
Beyond working with children I enjoy spending time with friends and family doing a range of activities from BBQ to watching and participating in sports. I have been at UCSB since 2007, working in the preschool, in a support position, and with infants. Since my commencement of working with children, I have acquired by site supervisor permit which is issued by The Commission on Teaching Credentialing.
