Preschool Teacher

Purple Door

I was born and raised in Mexico City. I left behind all my family when I emigrated to the USA in 1986. I met my husband in the same year and we have been married for 35 years. I have three children who are amazing young adults and who are scientists in their respective professions. I have had the fortune to be part of the Early Childhood Education field since 1997. I got inspired by the teachers that offered my children the best care in their early childhood years. In 1995, I became the president of the PTA committee at the Parma Children's Center. My constant volunteer work inspired me to be around families that had the same needs that my family had. I enrolled at SBCC ECE program and a few months later I was hired by The Santa Barbara School District as a teacher assistant at Adams State Preschool. I was able to earn my Early Childhood Education Teacher's Permit, and work as a teacher at Franklin Children's Center, Las Flores State Preschool and the PACE center at Santa Barbara High School and San Marcos High School with the infant program. I also worked for three years at the Transition House Child Care Program. Here at ECCES, I spent four years working in the preschool program, then transferred to the toddler program where I worked another four years until recently when I returned to the preschool program.

It has been a pleasure working at such a high quality program and being able to serve so many families through the past eight years. I look forward to continuing to work in this field that I feel so passionately about and enjoying everyday around the children.
