Lead Preschool Teacher

Red Door

I did not set out to be in this field but 22 years ago the field found me! I was taking classes to get a degree in Cultural Anthropology when I took a part-time job as a floater in a childcare care center in San Jose, CA. I found myself loving the job so much that I started taking ECE classes. Six years later I was the assistant director of that same center.

I moved to Santa Barbara in 1998 and earned my Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies. I have worked as a program coordinator, an assistant director, and a director at a few childcare centers in the area. I can very happily say that as much as I enjoyed the challenges of the administrative side of running a center, I am happily content to be back in the classroom as a teacher working directly with the kids, as they are the ones who keep me grounded and young at heart.

I continue to grow and take every opportunity to keep myself informed of changes and new developments in quality education for young children. I am a Level III Certified Outdoor classroom specialist, hold a certificate from UCLA Orfalea Management Institute and California Child Development Site Supervisor permit.
