Tamara Thompson

Program Coordinator, OFCC

Hello, my name is Tamara Thompson. I have been working in the field of early childhood education for over thirty years. I have a diverse background working in various types of programs ranging from private, family, and state subsidized child care. I received my Masters from Antioch University, Santa Barbara with a Degree in Education with an emphasis in Leadership and Social Justice. I have worked at UC Santa Barbara Early Childhood Care and Education Services for over twenty years. Eleven of those years were as the Lead Teacher in the preschool classroom Orange Door. The remaining years, I have been in my current position as Preschool Program Coordinator. I have also served as adjunct faculty at both Santa Barbara City College and Antioch University Santa Barbara teaching courses in early childhood and nature-based learning. I am the mother of two amazing children, a daughter who lives locally with her family and a son who currently resides in Switzerland with his husband. I am also a “Mum” to my two beautiful grandsons. Beyond my full-time day job, I create nature inspired art with my husband in our studio near the ocean in Carpinteria.
